Well, I needed to make a decision today so that our caterer and vendors could have some warning. We are rescheduling our anniversary celebration to

Sat., April 11th, as the weather report indicates another big spring storm to come through this Saturday. Hope you will all be able to attend next week!

Unfortunately, Mountain Music Duo can only join us this Saturday, April 4th. They will still plan on it if both members can find their way to the shop! They will perform from 4-6pm.

Greetings from Wash Perk!

Most of you know we are coming upon our ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY on April 1^st. We would like you to join us for our celebration festivities – to give thanks to all of you that have supported us through this first year, and hopefully many more to come!

Wed., April 1^st 6am-5pm DONATION DAY!

Please come and bring hungry, thirsty friends – we’re hoping for lots of customers because we will donate ALL of our proceeds and tips to two local charities. We’ve been collecting nominations of worthy organizations all month (this will end March 31^st) and we will randomly draw two names on Saturday, April 4^th at 2pm. Our generous and wonderful staff will be donating their time and tips that day, and our equally generous vendors are donating most of the products.

Our thanks to: Bethany, Jennie, Jacob, Jess, Amber, Lannie, Dani, Austin and Kendra, Kaladi Brothers Coffee, Royal Crest Dairy, Coda Coffee, Sogni Dolci Bakery, Bluepoint Bakery, Mame’s Burritos, Moe’s Bagels, and Bhakti Chai.

Sat., April 4^th 7a-6pm CELEBRATION DAY!

Complimentary mini pastries and quiche samples in the morning.
Samples of our newest products all day, including : Barackti Chai, Granita drinks, and Thai Iced Tea
Beginning at 10 am we will draw a name every hour on the hour to award prizes that include: coffee, gift cards, and apparel. Put your name in the jar anytime during our celebration week!
1-3pm Appetizers catered by Culinary Affairs.
2pm Drawing of two names from the Charity Suggestion Box to which our proceeds from Wed. will be donated. We will have two blank checks ready to go that day!
4-6pm Enjoy the music of Mountain Music Duo.
10am-6pm We will have crafts available for kiddos
11am-3pm Face painting
We will also ask you to vote on our new summer hours!

Good Wishes and Gratitude From Teri and Debbi:

As we enter into 2009, and WASH PERK closes in on its nine-month anniversary, we wanted to share a few thoughts with our loyal Wash Perk customers and friends. As many of you know, we didn’t plan a “coffee business,” we shared a dream of creating a livelihood in our neighborhood that felt good for the community and for us. Everything seemed to happen so clearly and naturally that seems like it was “meant to be.” We have had the support of loving friends, family, our generous landlord and lots of guidance from the great folks at Kaladi Brothers Coffee; we worked with wonderful contractors and built relationships with great local vendors. We have been amazed at the response of the neighborhood, and are so grateful for your support. These early months haven’t been without challenges, and we appreciate your patience as we strive every day to be our best. We have enjoyed a kind, competent and dedicated staff who have made all of this possible. We are excited to be approaching Wash Perk’s one-year anniversary, April 1, 2009, and look forward to continuing to make this a great neighborhood coffee shop. Thank you for your input and suggestions, and we welcome them always. Thank you for showing up with your smiles, your children, your fur babies, your friends and an intention to support our local business. Thank you for buying gift cards and referring friends to us. Thank you for all the kind words of encouragement on the days we’ve been tired. Thank you for sharing furniture and dishes and travel mugs. Thank you for fixing our door handle, for bringing us cookies, for bringing us stray dogs, for adding to our community board. Thank you for being such good neighbors. We promise to do the same.

WINTER ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Now that it is getting colder we've added a few things around the shop to make life easier and warmer.

Don't you hate having to wait in line in the morning when all you want is a simple cup of coffee? Well, wait no longer. We now have self-serve coffee. All you do is walk in, fill your cup, and drop your money in the box we have set up on the side. Quick, easy, and best of all, no waiting! We hope you'll take advantage of this new service. And please, give us your feedback on how you feel it works.
When it is cold outside what is better than a bowl of soup? Not much. Starting December 1st we have soup! Drop by to see what flavors we have to offer.
HAPPY HOUR! No alcohol, but we do have $2 Lattes. Come in Monday through Thursday from 2-4pm and join us for happy hour.

We recently decorated for our first Christmas. Thank you to everyone that helped us decorate! We are now looking fun and festive and we're ready for Santa to come. Join us on December 13th for Santa's visit. He'll be taking pictures with all the kids (and maybe kids at heart). We hope to see you there!

Tonight is the final Presidential debate and we want you to join us to watch it. Come to the shop tonight from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

The Presidential debate begins at 7pm, and lasts 90 minutes. Light snacks, coffee, and tea provided by Wash Perk. We hope to see you there!

Also, on Sunday we will be having a Ballot Gathering where we will sift through the ballot issues so you can be informed about your vote! This is a discussion being presented by Democrats Work. This will be on Sun, Oct 19, from 5:00pm – 6:30pm.

Three events this week!

Well, it is officially fall now and it is also a busy week at Wash Perk. There are three separate events to attend.

First, WWPNA available to discuss Down-Zoning issues on Tue, Sep 23, 6:30pm – 7:30pm.

Members of the West Wash Park Neighborhood Association will be available to answer questions re: down zoning in the neighborhood. If you have questions, concerns, etc. be sure to attend and make your voice heard.

Second, Global Oneness, presented by ReVision International. Wed, Sep 24, 6pm – 7pm.

Viewing of interviews from the Global Oneness video, with discussion following. These video interviews are sometimes touching, sometimes thought provoking, but often both. Please join Light snacks, coffee, and tea provided by Wash Perk.

Global Oneness

Wash Perk has been hosting video nights for the Global Oneness Project and the most recent showing happened last night where a small group gathered to watch the videos and participate in discussion. Topics for the evening were community, agriculture, hydrocarbons, economics, freedom, and more. The videos were touching, powerful, and inspirational but it was the discussion that seemed to speak to everyone on a different level. There was a sense of community in the shop that was infectious and will hopefully spread to others. In coming weeks there will be more videos shown and everyone is encouraged to attend. More details will be made available soon.
